A Short Night

Well, my brother's wedding rehearsal was last night and afterwards, we all went to dinner - so I didn't get a lot of time to play. We got home around 11:30pm, and after getting the kids to bed and making sure Lindsay was comfortable, I finally sat down around 12:30am, but then I was off the computer by 1am.

In that short stint, I did manage to gain ~6% fighting jetis and a few hectors. I traded the gold brist - though the person who won the auction didn't have the cash. He offered me two sets of Kumbis instead. I countered with the 2 sets and 40k and that seemed acceptable. Since the Kumbis seem to be going for ~180k on Basil - I am a little behind the 420k that he won the auction for, but you never know how much someone will offer.

At least I don't have to hold onto the brist longer.

Since I went to bed so early, I missed out on a neocora that I was winning at. Also a few of my other auctions ended without bids - so I'll probably just NPC them. The serpent coil I found the other night is started at 500k - which is nice. I'm really struggling to get my money up into the realms of getting a good warrior attack glove, but it will come with time I suppose.

Beyond that - I turned in another 1000 jeti skins and a set of hector tails, but didn't get anything too special from them. I'll stay up in Orbis for a few hours of training at the Disposed Garden and Cloud Park VI for just a change in pace. I might even go fight the big kitties - since I haven't tried them in a few levels.

I have to say that I'm pleased with already having my level 60 armor and sword. If I win the shield I will be well on my way to being fully prepared. Beyond that - I'm keeping my current helm. I don't have the level 60 earrings yet - but I believe there's a jump quest for them and then there's my boots - but I just need better snowshoes at the moment. There are a few on auction that seem viable candidates.

Current State of the Blog

Although this blog will serve more purpose than just my runnings through the game of Maple Story, it is currently the main focus of it.

Since the last post in my previous blog - I have attained level 57 and have most of my equipment for level 60 (red orientican top and bottom - both above avg, neocora (79atk)). I am bidding on a lvl 60 silver shield and have plans to craft a dark clench for the purposes of scrolling into an attack glove of +5 or better if possible.

Most of the people who were once on my buddy list have quit and I have become a member of the NightBreed guild. Although I still don't chat much - it is nice to have something to bounce ideas off of.

Currently, I'm training heavily on jetis. When I go for a change of pace, I move on to hectors or even full size yetis - but only for short bursts. The full size ones aren't too bad - but certainly are not trainable. They are just a distraction to keep things interesting.

I did try zombies for a short period and found that they are still too tough for me at the moment.

In terms of money and equipment, I'm sitting on about 8 mil and have another 1-2 mil worth of sellable/NPCable stuff.

I have also been playing with my magician who is near the 2nd job at level 28. Since I've renewed my interest in playing my warrior he's been on the sideline. On his own (as in - with very little funding from my warrior), he has earned a small nest egg of 800k. He did get a free panlid from my warrior - other than that though - all of the money and equipment is his.

My current goal is to get to level 60 - which still seems so far away. I have been earning a decent rate at jetis, but I'm going to look for a change soon - if only to return to jetis later. Camping at Another's House might be a solid option.

Well, I sold the 4 int Arten for 1.2 mil, still have the other one, I guess I'll sell it when the time is right. This brought my money count back up to the million =D Then I spent 350k on a soul singer, for novelty value. I know, I'm a terrible spender ;_; 29 ACC, 61 Watk.

Should I try a 10% on it?

(I have 4 10% and 5 60%s on me atm)

Oh, and I forgot:
I did a bit of testing with training. With icarus 2 (1.25 mil ;_ and a speed pill, here's some test results:

Hidden Trojan factory
0 minutes: 55.83%
10 minutes: 59.35
----------
3.52%
Apparatus room Tobo
0 min: 61.08
10 min: 63.99
-----------2.91%

Now, if I was smart, I'd have tracked pot usage too. But I'm not, so I'll have to do that I guess... Well, eventually.

Keeping in mind Tobo does drop things too, what do you advise, Dave? Am I almost strong enough for block golems?

Nice job on the dark arten (btw - remind me to tell you about that the next time I'm online...). I kind of wish I had tried harder to get a good price on mine - despite it being below average...

Nice on the info about rates in those two places. I suspect you'd find floor 8 to be similar to a combination of Tobos and Master Robos - so try Process 1 Zone 1 (all the way to the left) and see how it is for you. If it works out reasonably - head down and see for yourself. I never did block golems for any length of time (except for the quests), so I don't have much info on them myself.

I would still take tobos over the trojans - but that's just because I like money... and not getting any drops is far worse than the difference between 3.52%/10min vs 2.91%/10min (which, over an hour is 3.66% difference - not that big of a deal). I spent most of my 40s between tobos and the disposed garden - so if you want to try elsewhere - I will gladly take notes about it.

Also, on the matter of moving on to block golems - I treat it much like Drake's Meal Table. Even though it might be a reasonable place to train - its accessibility is very limited. Sure - if you have tower scrolls - getting there and back is no problem. However, as a fighter, getting those scrolls is very much an annoyance. You can better spend your time fighting good trainable creatures instead of getting the scrolls.

That being said - if you don't care about money - buying the Eos Tower scrolls is an option that's there too. I just am too cheap for that when I consider Tobos a very good and solid training spot. And yes - I'm stuck in my ways...

I've got to go over to Ludi soon - so I'm going to recheck tobos and master robos at my current level while I'm there (I need sniper pills for those darned transformed yetis...). After that, I'm contemplating heading back to vic and camping out at Mushmom for a little while, just for a change in pace from Jetis.

Yes, you can make it once every 24 hours.

@ Telin:Well the thing about Eos tower, is that you camp there, you dont go up or down unless you actually need to, and when you're level is near the 50 's is better to change to hidden tower, more king block golems and rombot spawns make it a better training spot for those last levels.
Im currently in Jr Yetis, just cuz i need to adapt my strategy to that map (rounding up and slash blast them to oblivion.)

Well, my MS luck hasn't ended yet...

I came home from class early today, and with a midterm in... 7 hours, I decided to relax. I ventured down Eos using scrolls and fought some block golems, not bad, they're easy but deal more dmg than master Robos...

I ventured a bit further to level 8, fought King ones, and they weren't bad. So I said, "Screw this" and went to fight Rombot.

How disappointing. The first rombot I fought surprised me, I just mashed pots and PS till it died. Then I channel surfed and fought a few more, got the hang on it, and then...

MITHRIL CRUSADER HELM Wdef 53 (1 above), M def 22 (avg), STR +1 (avg)

Yay. I'm set for Lv 50 at this rate XD

Just a quick note for 2 things:
1. I got my home internet back on Saturday during the day. I didn't play too much yesterday - but a few people were happy to see me back online.

2. Today, I've got a pretty big free poker tournament. There's going to be ~8k players for it - but the top 9 places get seats to the World Series of Poker and then 10th - 780th or so pays from $1100 down to $40.

It should be a lot of fun. If I finish early enough, I'll come online later today. The tournament starts at 1 and I expect the final table will be somewhere in the order of 12-13 hours later.
Anyway - wish me luck.

A busy weekend for sure - and it all started with getting my internet connection back on Saturday.

On Saturday I actually didn't play too much, having plenty to do about my house and stuff like that. Plus, my brother-in-law was over - and I tend to let him play since his access at home is pretty limited.

I probably gained in the order of 10% on Saturday, finishing around 60% I think. I spent some time at Macis and Cold Eyes as well as drakes and cargos - just for a nice change. Can't say I really like those areas - given how far they are and how costly they are - but that's the way it is sometimes.

On Sunday, I returned to Orbis and worked on the Disposed Garden while dealing with my son - who was having a very rough time. He didn't end up falling asleep until almost midnight - and it looks like this might happen on occasion. Not sure what we'll do about it - but I'm sure something will come up.

Anyway, I didn't get a lot of training in on Sunday - but the gleaming moment was getting nependeath honey finally! I finished off the night at around 75% and had returned to Vic to finish off the other requirements.

On Monday, I earned my bone helm finally and once again returned to Orbis. I spent a goodly amount of time in the garden again and even some time in the Garden of Red to finish off my first 100 tails. Cellions are pretty nasty for my current level though - so I'll be staying away for a little longer.

At the end of the night, I returned to jetis and earned upwards of 300 skins before calling it a night - around 4% short of hitting level 53.

After playing around with the bone helm some, I'm pretty much of the opinion that it'll only be used when I am travelling. The extra wdef and mdef of my crusader is important enough to me that it will continue to be my training helm. Considering how much money I'll need to continue with the attack gloves, I'll likely sell the bone helm in order to cover the costs.

On Monday night, a fizard came in at jetis and started training without so much as a word to me. He kill-stealed for about 1/2 an hour before he got the hint that I was going nowhere and eventually left. The funny thing is - he was able to deal more damage to them singly - but I tagged them all with slash blast before he'd kill them. And even though the drops were his - he left most of the money and all of the etc drops for me to snatch up later. So not only was he not getting the full exp he wanted, he also wasn't getting much for money...

I also got a random defame while I was AFK on Sunday night. If I was a spiteful man - I would've organized something to go teach the guy a lesson - but what would that accomplish? I would take some time away from enjoying the game in order to get some kid all up in arms for doing something which admittedly causes me no harm? Anyway - I hope the kid got something out of the random defame - because otherwise - it did nothing...

That's about it. I expect level 53 will come and go without much ado - though it does mark the beginning of Power Guard. After that - its more jetis...

Hey telin i was wanna ask u a question u see i have a warrior lvl 18 and was wondering if i should go one handed sword like u did i mean i have a Fizard to fund me if i wanted to go 2 handed but is 1 handed good or is the majority of people who go lol 1 handed right? at the moment im leaning towards using polearms

TelinArtho
Posted 5/30/2006 11:43:23 AM
In my opinion, 1 handed is equivalent to 2 handed - but the benefits are not as easily seen.

A one-handed wielder benefits by taking less damage, having a faster attack speed, but trades this off with a shorter range and less damage dealt.

A two-handed wielder benefits by dealing more damage and having a greater range, but trades this off with a slower attack speed and taking more damage.

Specifically, a one-handed wielder is "better" against things that both the 1 and 2-handed wielder can one-hit-kill and against things that take >5 hits (or so). The 2-handed wielder surpasses the 1-handed wielder when the 1-hander kills in 2-hits what the 2-hander can kill in 1 hit (and similarly for 3-, 4-, and 5- hits).

In other words - I feel it is mostly a matter of style. A two-handed wielder has "flashier" damage (a much greater maximum), but the 1-handed wielder can fight a lot longer for a smaller cost.

I've done a fair amount of analysis on this in my first log - you can check out the archives of it by following the link in my sig.

Well, Dave, you were right about Tobos. ~50% of Lv 43 was done there, and I've got 2 Dark Artens to show for it (one is 1 def above avg, the other is 1 int above)...

TelinArtho
Posted 5/31/2006 8:59:39 AM
I made some more progress last night, but not a lot of it - gaining the last 4% of level 52 and the first 10-15% of level 53 mostly on jetis and a little at hectors.

I don't think I got a single drop last night - which is fine I guess, but I have been spending more money. I bought a second 10% glove atk scroll, but it failed on the first Brist I made. That leaves it with 3 slots - so I'll probably try to cut my losses there for now and either work on a second one - or just wait until the level 60 glove.

I also picked up a 10% shoe speed scroll for my snowshoes - which failed - so nothing good there. I seem to be down to around 2.5 mil at this point - but that was mostly because of buying the 30 saps for an average of 20k a piece (600k...). I'm sure I could've done better on the price, but I wanted that bone helm. Of course, now that I've got it - I'm tempted to sell it...

Nothing really new to report - though jetis are doing well for me on building up a selection of mp restoring items. I'm now up to 338 mana elixirs - because before I use too many of them, I usually have to go through the 100+ salads I get from tradeins, and I usually head back to ossy when I've run out of Unagi (and the white potions from trade in). I've pretty much stopped buying lemons, but if I don't get any salads one of these times, I might pick some up - since I tend to use a potion before I'm down all the way on my mp and using an elixir is only fully effective when I am at 20 mp or less.

Most of the reason why I didn't get much done last night was because of my son - who seems to be having some trouble sleeping right now. We're working through it - but he's definitely having a hard time. Hopefully once I get the AC in his room again - the extra background noise will help calm him down. If it does - I might consider getting a white noise clock for his room - just a thought.

Well, that's about it - I was surprised that not too many were online last night - either on my buddy list or on my guild. Since I was AFK for long periods - it made it easier to step away - but it was a little strange with all the activity that I am used to.

On another note - I've been asked to become a moderator on another forum. I haven't made a full decision on it - but it will depend on what my duties will be.

Well, due to some poor financial planning this month, I have managed to get my cable internet turned off for non-payment. That being said, as soon as I get my next paycheck - I'll be back online.

In other words - I'm on a forced hiatus from all things online while at home (which includes Maple Story). I'll still be checking in here when I'm at work - but that's about it. Guess this gives everyone a chance to "catch up" - looking at you killa and bacon and chester...

Slasher - that's a good set of data points. Like I said - it doesn't jive with what I've found on my warrior - but I'll have to test it more fully and with a better number of data points. (and a data point is just a hit that you took - nothing more nothing less - a piece of data).

See you all on next Thursday.

Well, since you have no update, I'll do something =D

Today was a good day. It was friday, I had an interview for a computer science tutoring job for next semester (fall 2006), and it was raining like a softie at Brokeback Mountain.

I headed out to the Gym with my friends after dinner for badminton, but it was too busy, so we ended up working out instead. We came home, and while everyone else played poker (3 buck buyins, cheap I know), I mapled.

Aerylus hit 42 today, I had to use Aerythn's Double Shot to get the medicine with bad vibes off the darned Wraiths... Only to end up with an Icarus (1). Disappointing, but Aerythn was 60% into 41, so I have another crack at it.

After Aerylus finished that quest, I played Aerythn, trying to get him to level. Unfortunately, since he was in Vic, he didn't have much in the way of leveling choice. First, I went to the forest of wisdom, finished off Cody's quest for a maple flag (I needed one last candle). Then, when the green mushies dropped nothing, I went to the subway. Amazingly, over 50% of the maps in the subway were hacked one way or another. Seriously, what the hell?

Then I remembered Sleepywood, quite a nice dungeon. And at 1AM, it lacked people! I found an empty Tunnel 1 map easily, but I kept getting disconnected (stupid internet!). None of the horny mushrooms dropped anything (except potions and their caps), nor did anything else I fought there.

I hit 80%... after 2 hours. Wow, that's pretty bad. Around 79%, two guys came into the tunnel, and one asked another: "Do you have any horny mush caps I can have? I need 100." The other responded with, "Nope, I have 30 but I need 100 too,"

So they turn to me, and I did have the 200. I climbed up to where they were, and dropped 100 for the first guy. He picked it up, and the other guy, not realizing I was going to drop another 100, got very angry. First a "Hey!" and then, as the first guy left with the caps he needed, the second guy chased after. I yelled for him to come back, but to no avail.

Five minutes later, person B was back, asking if I had more caps. Of course I did, so I dropped some. Angrily, he declared "I'm going to defame him!", and then asked how many I gave the first guy. I responded truthfully, and then asked him why he would defame person A. His response: "Because I feel like it."

I'm starting to regret being nice to people in MS, but not yet cynical enough to care that much. In terms of drops, I got a wooden shield off Bubblings and a Grey Able Armour as well. Oh well, maybe tomorrow will be better?

Zabulba
Posted 5/26/2006 11:45:25 PM
That guy was going to find the other guy and defame him for no reason, instead of faming you for giving the caps. Maple is pretty sad sometimes.

Well I have a big update for you guys and girlsI started the night at about 50% and I was training at jeti I gained close to 12% the first hour I was there and I happened to find an empty map.... Well I was at about 65% or a little more by the time 2x exp came around when that started I lost my map :"( I was like Oh well I am just gonna go find somewhere else so I head over to Jr Pepe on floor 1 of Orbis Tower....I trained there for about 20 minutes before finally getting fed up with changing channels and being forced out by 3-4 people coming in at a time... So I say hmmm I have about 9 trade ins of jeti skins and my inventory is almost full I guess I am gonna head back to orbis.... So I head back to Orbis and I think hmm... I am gonna go trade in the skins....Well first set I got 5 screws I was like dam good deal... Then next set Salad then white potions and such well by the end of trade ins I had 80 Salads (20 each time) and I had 153 white pots which I had about 70 before that or so...Well on my 8th trade in I got the scroll from them 10 Topwear for def I was like SWEET so I was pretty happy...(trade ins still only give you 500 even during 2x exp)Well bye that time I was 82% or so then I went to Disposed Flower Garden I was training rather uncaringly killing things asking trespassers to leave and such.... Well during the time of 1 guy (50+ warrior) he killed a nependeath or a Lunar Pixie and a Korean Fan dropped and I was like OUCH that sucks I been training here for a while and I havent gotten any drops... the guy dropped the K-Fan and let me have it for nothing and left I was all O.O thx and he left.... Also sometime during my training and chatting with friends someone came into my channel and Vacced about 10-20 nependeaths into the lower right corner... I was like HOLY **** so I kill them all and collect my loot nothing eventful about that....I then made my level after a while and thats about it nothing else really eventful happened.... oh and I got a Blue Lumati (F) when killing jeti's...So other than those few things my night was uneventful... I actually feel I had a great night overall for the first time in a long time

Well I'm at home sick again... hence the lack of updates here (I usually only update when I'm at work and have the time to reflect).

Anyway, I'm still level 51, though I am at 90% - so that'll be finished soon. I just gathered the 100 dark nependeath seeds for the nependeath juice quest and in the process of gathering them, earned 300+ lunar pieces - one of which turned in for a Shield scroll (which unfortunately failed).

Previous to that, I've been down at jr. yetis for most of the level, turning in around 1500 skins so far. The transformed ones still give me a decent amount of trouble, but at least I've got things working well enough to not die by them.

Drops have been pretty much non-existant, though in the process of the 1500 skins or so, I have gathered almost 30 mithril ores - which surprised me. I did get a 52 atk Red Viper and an average Mithril Wolfskin from the jr. yetis. Today, I also got a Red lined kismet from the lunar pixies - so I guess the drops haven't been horrible - just not up to the speed I am used to.
Anyway - until I feel better - my schedule will probably be a little off.

@slasher - thanks for the numbers. They seem to be running in the same frameset - but I'll doublecheck that when I'm feeling a little better as well.

@mlugia - kitties are certainly fine - and with the cake spawn I can definitely understand it. You should check out tobos in a few levels - I made a decent profit and speed there - especially when I partied with Bacon or with another sin/bandit. Good luck on your icarus cape quest. If you don't get the icarus 2 I think it should probably be on the top of your list of things to get. It makes so much of a difference in training on your own.

Yesterday, I got the opportunity to play a fair amount during the 2x drop time in the evening - and in that time I got 2 magician overalls, 1600+ jeti skins and a good deal of money while partying with SwiftBacon. I still don't have an efficient process for making them mob up (I end up taking too much damage), but jr. yetis drop in 1-2 PS now, so taking them out one by one isn't too bad.

I also finished up the next leg of the nependeath juice quest and am on to the part that needs the nependeath honey. I'm a little surprised I haven't gotten any yet - but I'm patient and will continue trying. In the short term though, I have headed back to Victoria and finished the first part of the Alligator quest.

I'm also now a decent leg into level 52, and I have to say the more time I spend at jetis, the more impressed I am with the exp rate there. Although I haven't timed it - the training there is very smooth and the occasional transformed jeti just keeps the screen interesting.

While in Victoria, I'll once again try to finish up some quests. The 2nd part of the alligator one should be no trouble and I'll have to see what is needed for the Special sauce from Estelle, but that will also be finished. Once I'm done with that, it is likely I'll return to Ossy and to the disposed garden until I get my honey.

Over the weekend I did spend around 1.2 million on scrolls in the FM - most notably a Str cape scroll 60% (that failed) and a couple of others. My helm is now +1 with 10%, my shield is +1 with 10% and has 1-2 slots left.

I'm a little disappointed that I haven't gotten my Glove atk scrolls from the person who auto-won my auction. He will be the 2nd person that I've left negative feedback to unless that trade goes through (not that the feedback means much). Its too bad too - because I was really hoping to get going on my gold brist.

I did get the trade for my emerald hildons. I promptly tried a 60% speed scroll on it, but was chagrined when it failed. Looking over my options for shoe scrolls, speed seems to make the most sense to me - since my accuracy is right where I want it at the moment and I don't particularly care about extra jump or avoidability. If the hildons don't end up scrolled well, I could very well just upgrade at level 60 to the camel boots.

Hey dave, glad to hear you're still kicking even while sick =D

I saw a soul singer going for ~1mil on Basil, but it was 65 watk (perfect according to HS), and if I do scrape out the money, and assume it scrolls half-decently, I'm looking at something that can replace a Katar even. Although the fruity "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" animation might get annoying after... say 5%. Just a thought I've been pondering anyways. Got a wand and claw scroll off Jr grupin/cellion last weekend, and assuming the trades go through, I will have ~ 2 million in mesos, enough to buy that singer.

Any infinite wisdom on this topic? =D

(btw, I read Master Robos (the red one) drop Katars as well. Did you fight them extensively at all, or did you just stick to Tobos? If so, any comments on them?)

I'd have a hard time justifying the 1mil on a sword that is about equivalent to the jeweled katar (which can be bought for anywhere from 300-500k for above average). The exception is for the accuracy bonus - which is useful against Alishar if you are going to do the PQ - but for little else. The only other side would be to get the bonus to damage (from scrolling it better than what the cutlus is), but that will only get you so far.

Personally, I would suggest starting to look for a katar now for a good price (mine was a 69atk for 300k and I've seen them a couple of times for that price). But that's really up to you.
As to master robos - I used to think they were much better than I do now. In the mid 40s, you can take them out, but it will be a lot of attacks - and their bump damage really takes a toll on you. In other words, you can train there, but your exp rate and profit will be fairly low. I probably trained a total of 100-200% there between 45-50 and while the exp rate wasn't horrible - I did better at Tobos. I did not get a katar while I fought them either.

Tobos on the other hand are great. They have a reasonable defense that most lower levels will despise (other than warriors) and don't give enough exp to make higher levels want to train on them. At level 45, I think, I could take 1 down in 2-3 PS, rarely in 1. With haste - it was pretty good - and that's with either an assassin (like Bacon) or a bandit (like one of my guildmates). White Guiltians and Dark Artens also sell very well - so profit is very good here too.

Congratulations on those drops - I didn't get any scrolls while I was at kitties - in fact the best scroll I've gotten from a drop was a 60% cape magic defense scroll I think.

And when I said "about equivalent to a jeweled katar" - replace "jeweled" with "Hero's" and Katar with "Gladius" ...

Okay - I've taken Slasher's numbers above and was a little confused... first of all, I would like to know how many data points you had for each level of wdef you listed. If it was only 2-3 - then that might explain some of the discrepency. If it was much more than that - wdef is a much more complex formula than first guessed:

If the defensive values are taken as 2.5 wdef = 1 damage reduction, it works fine for defense 0,5 and 16 - but nothing higher. If we make it 3 wdef = 1 damage reduction - the numbers are much closer - but then - those go against what has been discovered (albeit with relatively small data sets) from myself and mlugia. The most notable difference between your data and mine and mlugia's is the fact that you are a magician while we are both fighters.

The next time I play, I will do a more intensive discovery into this on my warrior and see how things go. I'm in Victoria right now and I'd rather do this against jr yetis - but I'm sure I can find a usable creature for this test.

Thanks guys - glad to see that breaks are taken and progress is made respectively. @Preacher - I've got some thoughts about training areas - I'm still fleshing them out though.

I made solid progress last night - finishing off the last 12% of level 50 and gaining another 20% beyond that. I started off my night in the disposed garden during the last 15 minutes of double drop time and managed to get a pair of Star Earrings (NPCed), a Blue Lutia and a Red Bandana before the end of the 15 minutes. I was pretty close to leveling after that - so I just stayed there until level 51 was attained.

After that, I checked in on a few trades and got 1 or 2 of them completed. At the rate I'm going - I'm actually gaining 2-3 trades per trade completed - so I'm falling behind...

With the trading complete, I decided I would head down the tower, collect shellpieces for more scrolls (just to have a few extra) and finish off the Food for Moppy quests (I only need 300 more fish). I haven't turned them in yet - since I'll have to go back to Orbis for that - but its there for me when I'm ready. At level 51, the 300 fish goes by pretty quickly in the 1st floor of Orbis tower.

Moving over to El Nath, I continued to fine tune my method of attacking jr. yetis. I'm getting better at mobbing them - but I tend to take more damage this way and use up only slightly less MP when compared with using Power Strike. It'll get better once I've got a rhythm down. In any case, I didn't die - which is always a victory unto itself.

After taking a short break to trade a kismet to a guildmember, I returned to the first jr yeti screen and found another fighter there. Instead of changing channels, I decided to go one more screen and try out hectors. I can't say they were too tough - but they definitely were more costly that jr yetis were - so I'll probably stay away. It did help that after the 5th or 6th hector was killed, I got a pair of Red China Pants. Unfortunately, they have no luk bonus so they will likely be NPCed (unless someone picks them up while they are on auction).

I have tentative plans to return to Victoria this weekend and get Jane's quest done. Before I do though, I think I'm going to give Big Cats a try first - they seem to be in the same domain as Hectors - so they warrant at least a try for a little bit.

Exploring these other areas is essentially trying to work through the "questionable" period - where my "new" training spot might not be entirely great yet, but my old spot isn't so good anymore either. Not that I don't like the disposed garden - I've made quite a bit of my 4 mil just on that screen...

After I get Jane's quest done I'm planning on checking out Drakes again (or rather during - since I need stuff that they drop), mostly to get the rest of the dragon skins I'll need for my second Gold Brist. If I don't end up needing the second one - I can use the skins for other equipment later on.

I might even move on to do the Cursed doll quest, if only to get the scroll from it. I don't need the helm anymore - so unless I find it to be very good training - I probably wouldn't stay that long.

I think at this point in Ludi there's only 2 areas that would be reasonable for training - Process 1, Zone 1 (Master Robos) and Floor 8 of Eos Tower/Hidden Tower. I do enjoy fighting master robos - but getting down into the tower - without tower scrolls is a pain in the neck, so I won't likely be heading down there. If I do, you can be certain that I'll do the scroll quest on my way down...

Lastly, I want to give Tauromacis a try - so that'll be along with my jump deep into the dungeon. And I suppose I might go kill mushmom once too...

I just checked my numbers and it looks like my absolute maximum powerstrike (with rage activated) can now exceed 2k and slash blast can now exceed 1k.

I'm very much looking forward to taking jr. yetis down in one swing (with FA activated). I feel it is a nice goal to set for myself right now - that will be met in the next few levels.

Finally got a price check on Sleepywood for my current boots - 5-600k I was told. Sounds good to me - I've put less than that into them so it will be profitable. I'm still waiting to trade for my new Hildon boots though - so I'll put them up on auction once I receive the new ones.

I should probably get a price check on my dark briggon too - 10% from dex and attack. Of course, I'm still balking at the price of glove attack scrolls... so I don't know when I'll actually get around to scrolling up the brist(s).

Boo yah! Someone just auto-won my new buying auction for glove attack scrolls. I had one up earlier this week for 4 10% glove scrolls with a start of 2.2 mil and an auto-win of 1.7 mil - but no one bid on it. I put this one up for 2.4 mil with an auto-win of 2 mil and within minutes someone has taken it. I can only hope that the person didn't misread it.

Assuming the bid is real and I'm able to trade it - I should have a decision on whether or not I'll need to move to my second brist.

Thanks guys for the offer - I don't need the gold anymore - I bought 90+ from a guildmate for a very reasonable price. In any case, the only thing I need now are glove attack scrolls. As many of you know, I finished Jane's quest last night and was blessed with a 60% atk scroll (just sved me 2 million), and since I only had to buy ~50k worth of stuff to finish the quests - I think that's a solid profit margin...

Bacon - don't worry - we'll party again soon I imagine. What are your plans for the summer months? My schedule pretty much stays the same - since I'm well out of school and have a set schedule at work (for the most part...). However, if the summers open up time frames for you - we might be able to coordinate better.

Anyway - just stopping in quickly - see you all later.

I've decided I'm going to see about replacing my current set of boots (blue jangoon) with something from the level 50 group. There happens to be a cheap one on Basil right now that I'm planning on bidding on - and even if it doubles in the closing minutes, it is a reasonable price to me.

I still need to get some scrolls onto a set of snowshoes as mine currently are not all that awe-inspiring. I'll probably stick with speed - since you can never have too much. For my hildon - once I get one - I'll probably go for Dex - just to give me a few extra accuracy points and the extra avoidability. Dex scrolls also are pretty inexpensive - but I may go for speed on these too - just to have some consistently high speed (rather than just when I'm partied with Bacon or another Sin).

No one bid on my buying auction for 4 10% glove scrolls, so I'm back to square one on that. Not a big deal - but it would've saved me a little time had someone taken the bid.
So I guess I'm back to looking for a bunch of scrolls...

Won the auction for the hildon boots - Emerald - so +3 dex. There's also a Gold one ending today, but it was selling for 4 times as much - and I just can't justify that - even for +3 str instead of dex.

So now the next question is how much to sell my Blue Jangoons for. I had one person tell me they were worth 1.5 mil, but I can't see that as being too likely - given that it has 2 100% scrolls on it and 2 60% scrolls I think.

Blue Jangoon Shoes (+4): 24 wdef, +2 str, +1 dex, +20mp, +1 avoid, +2 speed, +3 jump, 0 slots
Anyway - if anyone wants them - let me know and we'll see about a reasonable price for them.
In the mean time - I'm also looking for scrolls for my new hildon.

Just wanted to say congrats on your level 50 As much as some of the longer serving members of the board poopoo people level 50 celebrations I still think its a common landmark level that people aim for and a good one at that.

To be honest you are now in the awkward position of being too strong to fight in your usual levelling spots and will be weaker than others in your new levelling spots, makes for a very humbling next 2 or 3 levels

But you do tend to tread the path least travelled for training so it probably won't phase you too much.

I slipped past the 60 mark and made the decision to cap my dex at 80, so I am hunting/contemplating making a pair of dex snowshoes, not looking forward to seeing all those 10% scrolls fail on me.

Well, last night wasn't very productive. I knew I wouldn't be playing very actively, and somehow I managed to get myself killed at Jr. Yetis again - so I started off pretty early with a 9% deficit.

I actually was only on to get some trades to go through, which was largely unsuccessful. After dying at jr. yetis, I decided I would put them on hold for a little bit and head back to Orbis to trade in and to get back to the Disposed Flower Garden. After getting up to 53% (a total net gain of 3% on the night), I pretty much called it a night.

I did however start a bunch of auctions on Basil. Apparently my first Staff Stimulator sold for real cheap (80k), because one just finished at 150k and the other is still going and at 180k. My above avg pair of green split shoes sold for 80k. If anyone wants to see my current auctions, I believe this link will get you there: http://www.basilmarket.com/show/user/TelinArtho
A guild mate is buying one of my blue lined kismets and I'll probably be buying a 60% glove attack scroll from him.

Don't worry, I'll be back at jr. yetis soon - but I'm hoping a little more time at the disposed garden will net me another 1.2 million or at least a shield scroll...

@mlugia - didn't you read my ludi training guide? I said that any screen with trixters is not a good place to train... you should listen to me (just kidding of course - I know you are looking for omok pieces...). Let me know if/when you need the level 40 equips I've got. I'm actually actively trying to clean out my inventory...

@assassin_xd - "very long time"? Isn't summer just a couple of weeks away? Anyway - take the time to get things done. No sense in putting things off because of Maple.
It would be nice if I could get online during the tail end of the double drops tonight. I don't think it'll happen unless my kids go to bed early tonight - but I haven't really been able to take advantage of it yet and I'd like to...

Well, that's about it for now. Busy day at work - so I'll see you guys later.

Heh, It was either that screen or the one previous with only black latz, both of which are decent (Trixters do give 42exp for 12MP used...)

Kind of a bittersweet night last night. I started off in the Disposed Garden and as usual earned a decent rate and made some decent cash. I only got one notable drop, but it was a below average halfmoon zamadar - so I just NPCed it. Beyond that, I wanted to get some trades done and out of 17 contact people, only one was online when I looked the first time.

He unfortunately was AFK and when he came back he kept giving excuses of why he couldn't trade. After a few cordial attempts to get him to trade, I told him I'd just resell the item (pansy earrings), and there happened to be a guild mate who wanted them. Made a little less money, but I got more satisfaction out of that trade - so I don't care.

The staff stimulators sold really well and one of the traders came on while I was on last night - so I did a quick trade with him; soon after another trader came on to take care of the black green-lined shoes (above avg) that had sold for 80k. So the gist of the selling went fairly well as you can tell. I've got a bunch of trades left and another 8 items on auction right now.

After all of the trades were done, I went down to El Nath to "hopefully not get myself killed." About 2 minutes in, I had a transformed yeti and he promptly squished me. I thought it had to do with me pressing the wrong heal potion button - but as it turns out I had some serious lag going on - and I hadn't even noticed it up until that point. I tested it out after my death and the hp/mp cost of slash blast wasn't being taken from their respective pools until almost 3 seconds after I had seen the action happen. I rebooted my machine and things seemed much better.
After the reboot, I went back into jr. yetis and was soon joined by a lion's fang-wielding fighter who decided he was going to kill-steal me. He never said a word - but every action he did was to kill-steal my attacks. That's fine - I don't care about my exp rate - and after a couple of seconds - he lagged out and disconnected. A minute or two later - he was back and at the same tricks - and again he lags out. A total of 4 times he disconnects before I leave the map - but only because my wife calls - so I leave and sit on a bench to heal. I only wish I could've stayed there longer to make him disconnect some more...

Just as a note - to anyone who wants to "force" me from a map by kill-stealing. You will fail. I do not care about my exp rate and if I was there first - I see no reason to leave - especially if you are rude to me (and despite not talking - this guy was...).

So anyway - despite the death, I managed to net a 20% gain last night (or so anyway), which brings me to around 70% to level 51.

I don't really have a close tab on my money - but I think I'm probably close to the 3.5 - 4mil mark. I am trying to get some bargain-priced glove attack scrolls - but that has been a slow process...

Oh - and I also used the 60% cape str scroll last night on my icarus 2 and was pleased to see it work. I'm still not sure if I'll make it fully str or the rest with dex - but I couldn't justify holding on to the scroll - I needed to either use it or sell it.

Well, last night could have been the mark of level 51... instead it was a couple of deaths making me 11% short of leveling up...

It all started when my guild leader asked if I wanted to do the Zakum PQ. Interested in trying it out, I accepted. I stocked up on about 200 unagi and 100 ice cream pops and 200 mana elixirs - figuring it would at least hold me over. My guild leader is level 77 and the rest in our party ranged from 50 (me) to around 65 or so. We set off walking.

First of all, I didn't realize just how far away it was. Even hasted - it took probably 15 minutes to cross all of the screens (including helping the cleric past a nasty werewolf...) but 5 of us did manage to make it (one guy lagged and died). Once there we started the 1st part.

I have to say that damage is definitely very high throughout this area - and there were a couple of near-death encounters that nearly did me in. However, with determination I managed to help my party finish the first part - though by the end, we were down to 4. Out of the alloted time, we had less than 1 minute left - so we weren't particularly quick about it. We did manage to get the scroll pieces though - so that's a nice side bonus.

After that we had some discussion as to whether to repeat the task or to go on to the jump quest. Since I was interested in trying it out - I voted for the latter and everyone else seemed to agree (one guy seemed pretty hesitant...). I made it to the 3rd platform and managed to get myself killed because I wasn't watching my HP very closely (okay - not at all...). 9% - gone!
Well, too stubborn to accept defeat, I went from El Nath, back to the jump quest on my own and started it again. This time I made it about halfway when I somehow managed to hit Alt-tab in combination and switch windows. Unfortunately, by the time I made it back - I had died once more... another 9% gone.

Now, very much humbled, I decided I would head back to Orbis and trade in the 600+ jr. yeti skins I had and regroup. I recovered about 16% of the 18% I had lost and pretty much called it a night.

In terms of drops, the only equipment I got last night was a blue anakarune that is about average. I did manage to close on one trade - but I've still got plenty left.
I did a quick accounting check last night and I've discovered I'm pretty close to 4 million now - I'm more actively searching for more expensive items - mostly glove attack scrolls. At some point this weekend, I'll probably head back to Victoria to get Jane's quest done at least - so that'll net me one at least. I'll probably also try the cursed doll quest and see if I can get that out of the way (at least to the point of getting a scroll from it). I would like to finish Blackbull's quest - but fighting curse eyes just doesn't excite me much...

I'd also be happy to finish the Nependeath Juice quest - but without the honey first - I can't see gathering the rest of the required items. I'm hoping to get one soon though - because getting a bone helm would be a nice accomplishment.

It also looks like I won't be PQing in Ludi anymore - so I guess that phase of my career is done. Now there is only Zakum...

Busy weekend again, but I got a decent amount of playing time in. Add to that I managed to play during the adjusted time for 2x exp on Sunday - and it made my progress a fair amount better.

First of all, as I posted earlier - I made level 50 on Saturday. My face is now exposed with my new helm and I think the new armor looks pretty good. Unfortunately, scrolling hasn't gone too well:

Top: 7 10% failed
Bottom: 5 10% failed, 1 60% failed, 1 60% worked
Helm: 4 10% failed (3 slots left)
Gold Brist: 1 10% atk failed (4 slots left)

17 10% scrolls in a row have failed. I will probably try to finish off that gold brist with 10%s and see how it goes. If it doesn't go well, I have all of the materials for a second brist - so I'll work on that after with 60%s.

I started in on Jr. Yetis on Sunday after gaining 24% during the 2x exp event in the disposed garden (also gaining a 2nd set of mokbis, a 2nd blue-lined kismet, a red bandana and another drop that I'm forgetting about at the moment).

Jr. Yetis started me off nice and easy with a transformed one about 10 minutes in. I ran away back to El Nath to regroup (it surprised me a bit), but then went back to face it. It was after this encounter (where I died...) that I decided to put Sniper pills on a quick key. Since I have made that change, I've now faced 4 transformed yetis - and done fairly well. They do hurt quite a bit - but they aren't too bad with the sniper pill on.

I haven't timed my exp earn rate there, but I have made sure that I'm netting a profit: 7.5% was 32 unagi and 69 lemons (works out to be 56k) and I brought in 65k (not including the sellable soft feathers and leather they drop in addition to exchange items). I've gained ~30% on them (well, 39% since I died once...) and haven't gotten any equipment drops yet - but that will come in time. I've also done my first 6 exchanges for the skins and I was satisfied with those rewards (though no scroll...).

I might head back to the disposed garden for a little while though - despite the fact that I'm satisfied with the progress at jr. yetis. Jr Yetis, while good, don't have very much variety and the presence of those cakes severely diminishes the benefits of fighting on tougher creatures. If there weren't any cakes, my profits would be higher just because I tend to PS a cake when it gets in my way and sometimes an attack will target a cake when I wanted it to hit the jr yeti. I can't ignore the possibility of getting a glove attack scroll though - so I suspect most of my time for the next few levels will be fighting the hairy cold things.

I think I'll also need to do huckle's quest a few times too to make sure I have enough rock scrolls. Nothing would frustrate me more than being at the bottom of the tower and need to walk up (though going down is not a big deal).

I am also no longer the 2nd highest level character in my guild, as my guild leader has been doing some recruiting - so we have a few mid 60s and a couple in their 50s. I actually partied with a level 63 fighter at jr. yetis for a few minutes and he showed me how to mob them up pretty well. It was a little unnerving to see him chased by 10-15 jr yetis, but we took care of them quick and easily. I did think it was funny when my first two attacks showed more damage than his first two - but since he's a 2-handed axe fighter - that was quickly fixed after that.
I also partied for a short while with Bacon and the screens become much better with haste on. I might invest in getting my snowshoes up to a reasonable speed bonus because of it.

Also, it just occured to me that killa and aerylus should party together since you both are at kitties right now. The combination of SwiftBacon and I at kitties helped me get through the 40s - so it would be similar for the two of you. Just a thought.

After much deliberation, I have put up my first buying auction at basil for 4 10% glove attack scrolls. I'm hoping to get the 4 of them for 2mil even, but even for the highest price there - I'd be willing as long as I got them all at once.

If the first brist doesn't pan out or if it is not at least +6 atk, I'll just keep on using my briggon until I get the second one and enough money to purchase 60% scrolls. I've still got Jane's quest to finish - so with any luck I might be able to get one from that in any case. I've also really got to start stepping up my efforts on selling things through Basil - as I'm slowly bleeding equipment over to my mule. The problem is I usually start the auctions while I'm at work - but I don't always remember to write down the stats of the items before I come in. I should really start the auctions when I get on at night - but then I'm too busy training... its an endless battle.

Regardless, I try to include buddies and guildmates on my items before they go up for auction - as I would rather see them benefit. Most of the stuff I've been getting lately is simple archer stuff (2 blue lined kismets and a green lumati, 2 brown pierre shoes, dark hunter top, etc). I just thought I would mention it here - since I had a guildmate bid for an item on Basil that he could've simply asked for had he seen me pick it up.

At some point, I've got to go through my inventory and just get it all listed out, so that asking for items from me is much simpler.

Hey Dave, best of luck crafting that attack glove! I'm actually in Ludi right now, but if Killer (what's his IGN?) wants to party, I can return to Orbis. Ludi's more convenient since I'm waiting to finish a few trades, and the rats are roughly equivalent of kitties minus the solid horns. Though it is a bit more entertaining so far, change of scenery and all...

Almost Lv 40! (45%, but who's counting)

Sorry killa is Assassin_XD above. His IGN is killa999999.

I trained with him on and off from the mid-to-late 20s and early 30s. After that I was leveling too quickly for him - but he seems to be keeping pace now.

Also, remember if you train on Latz, you miss out on the exchange quest. How else are you going to get piles of processed wood? (just kidding of course)

Seriously though, I never really liked fighting Latz - they just ran me over too much. That being said, I think I tried them around 35 and never really went back - so it may have been for that.

I'm actually tempted to get started on jr yetis tonight or this weekend... I'm going to be needing the attack scrolls that they might drop and I might as well get used to training down there. Just a thought of course.

I've put in an offer on a 5 dex cape (Icarus 2) for a reasonable price (he's asking for a lot more than I'm willing to offer - but it doesn't hurt to ask... its been sitting unsold for at least 2 weeks now...). If it goes through successfully, then I'll be able to either try to scroll my Icarus for Str and switch between them, or perhaps even sell it if I need the money.

I've also started putting in offers for top/bottom wear scrolls - but since I am not sure how many I have/how many I need - I'm being a little cautious with it.

In addition to all of this, I'm considering options on shoe scrolls - since I've got to get a good pair of snowshoes for fighting yetis with. My current ones are only +4 speed with 3 slots left. I might just start from scratch - or see if I can get 1-2 dex scrolls (10%) to work on those last three slots. If not - its not a big deal - I'll just get a new pair and scroll those.

I haven't PQed for a few levels - but I tell you what - if you are online tonight (after the double drops) or tomorrow - I'll get into at least one PQ with you.

Honestly, after a few more bad experiences, I've pretty much given up on it. I've got 3 napoleans I won't likely use, 4 sets of earrings and a couple of scrolls to show for my efforts - but I enjoy regular training with Bacon a lot more than partying with the morons I've gotten in with on occasion.

However, perhaps a last "hoorah" is worth considering tonight. Bacon - are you up for it tonight?

I don't know if I'll be able to go on tonight David. I'm going with friends to play laser quest/tag >_> I don't know how long it will last but they somehow find other things to do until it's like 9-10 pm for me.

PQ is good and all, if you have the right members. Sometimes, I find myself unlucky and stupid for wasting time because my leaders always miss.

As for normal training, I'm really tempted to buy a pet now since I train much faster not stopping to pick up drops. But I've heard they are not that effective on picking up stuff.

My PQ during the ghost-town time sucked. Sure even though we screwed up Stage 3 by missing passes and then having to do it over and level, and having a weak party, I didn't get to do what I wanted most. That is to fight Alishar at level 51.

Well, during those times, the members are usually weak since people are desperate to invite anyone around. So... level 44 cleric died during Stage 7 because I summoned all the rombards. Then the rest of the party were too chickened to fight (most were mages). So I ended up having to climb the rope, jump, L7, repeat because of my minimum range. It would have been faster if the no-minimum range wizards helped but they just hung onto the rope. So after I clear more than half of the crowd, they helped me kill the rest so that was nice.

We passed by Stage 8 with an average amount of time left. I killed the ratz and Alishar was summoned. The bandit was immediately killed in two hits... I guess he wasn't using pots. The other 3 just stood to the left and waited. I had to keep my distance from Alishar so I wouldn't get sealed or blinded and eventually Alishar was lured to the left. While I was jumping over Alishar to go to the other side, the leader left the map... So the fight ended. His excuse was: "I was dc" when it was clear he was online the whole time and just quit the PQ.

...Yeah, so the PQ ended right in the middle of 2x EXP but I didn't want to train so I took the boat to Orbis and AFK'd til this morning. That's about it. 8% earned.

As I've said before Slasher - I'm not keen on slowing down other than the regular real life things that keep me away. In the last week, I had about 1 hour to play on Sunday, 2 hours on Monday, 3-4 on Tuesday and Wednesday and about 1 hour yesterday. Given that yesterday, I only earned 17% in total, I should hope that you made some headway over me.

That being said - if you want to be ahead of me - you're going to either need to find a way to level faster or spend more time in game. I'd train with you if you were on Windia - as I've found I like training with people more lately, but since you're not on Windia there isn't anything I can do about that.

@Bacon - you asked me when I was going back to Ossy for the disposed garden. I think I'll be heading back after tonight. I'll spend what time I have tonight on Master Robos or Tobos and then move over there for tomorrow. If I hit level 50+, I'll even head down to El Nath and try my hand at Jr Yetis.

Also, I'm looking for 24 gold ores. If anyone is willing to sell them to me for less than 8k/ore - let me know.

David I would recoommend looking for them for yourself go kill the jumping blue mushrooms they tend to drop them quite a bit there is a hidden street that has mostly just them... its in vic but if you really want the gold ores and dont mind slowing down your training it could be very useful because they also have some decent drops when I had to go there on my g/f's sin I got like 3 or 4 while just collecting the 50 or so caps I needed for that one quest (nella I think)

Dave, I scouted the armors somewhat, and you're right, the scrolls are pretty cheap. Now I just have to keep an eye out for the actual armor on Basil or something.

Though, if I hit 40 and haven't found anything, I'll buy it from you, is that ok with you?

(Hope your wife and kids are doing better. Well, hopefully the kids aren't making too much noise anyways)

TelinArtho

@Slasher - yeah I haven't found many gold ores in my time through level 49. At this point, I'm willing to purchase them - especially since I didn't plan ahead on this really. There's plenty of gold being sold at 10k/ore - I'm just hoping to get it a little cheaper. If the time comes for me to get the gold brist and I haven't bought them yet - I will stroll through the FM to get the last few ores I need.

@mlugia - of course you can buy the top and bottom from me. I do have the set that requires 20 fame though - so make sure you have that first.

I might even need to start selling some ores soon - as I'm getting to a large enough stock of them that I'll never use them all. Before I get to that point, I'll probably be making them into plates first. I know off the top of my head that steel and bronze ores are almost up to 100 each (in addition to a few plates for each).

Of course, after I do get my brist up and made - I've got to get some idea on how much accuracy I'll need from it. I've got 95 acc right now without a sniper pill and my glove currently provides 3 dex and 5 acc. The gold brist as a standard provides 1, and I can safely drop down to 92 and still fight jr. yetis. I guess I really should get the dex scrolls onto my icarus - and just go full-bore with an attack brist... I only need to cover 1 acc and 3 dex from it - so a 5 dex cape will definitely work.

I think I've got about 5mil to work with these days (3mil on my main character, 1.2 mil in storage, plus another 1 mil + in sold items waiting for trades). It sounds like I need to waste a good deal of it on Dex scrolls for my cape.

Hey Dave. I'm just dropping by to say hi.

About yesteray, I didn't get to play much either. I think I've played for a total of 3-4 hours, grinding isn't my thing. I was doubtful in my luck since I trained for an hour without a drop. Until I came upon a hacker, I channel chased him until he logged off. So since he logged off, the monsters were still grouped up, even though they weren't vacced. I decided to kill them and found a Dark Arten and a White Guiltian. ^_^

And now I know you were the one who bought that helmet. I was looking for the helmet as well. I'll try to train at king block golems/rombards, even though I heard it was bad for sins there. Hopefully I get a drop, the helmet.

I love basilmarket. I've gone from 600k to 1.5 mil in the two days my auction ended. Selling has never been easy. The only problem is finding them. Luckily, I only have one who hasn't been on.
The EXP was great yesterday. It was even faster when I didn't stop to pick up drops. Maybe I should get a pet and name it BaconFast like True suggested :P

I'll PQ right before I hit 51 so I can take on Alishar. My damage hasn't been impressive as I thought it would. I thought my upgrade from 29 attack to 34 would help. All it did was raise my average damage (no complain) but I RARELY hit 1000+. I need to get an attack glove and later on, better stars.

David, for your dex cape you can 100% that up for around 750-800K, shop for 100% dex scrolls paying no more than 200K tops, although they easily go for 300-400K people dont really seem to know where to price them.

Jetis on windia should suit you nicely, not too crowded, but I have seen a lot of other Sins there, seemingly all armed with steelies and somehow blessed with the ability to move faster than me...wut? XD

Figuring that I play at fairly quiet times I wandered along to zombies and found that I was 3 hitting them just as I was 3 hitting jetis (although 2 hits were becoming more common and I think the 3rd hit was generally massive over kill). So I have taken up my seemingly permanent residence at zombies until 70, exp is good at just over 3% per 10 mins. This is also useful for my exchange quest spearman project, I intend to not swing a weapon until his mid 40s...a whimsical dream perhaps

I've found that the red bean porridge is required for Sins, I spend so much of my time not actually getting hit by the enemy that to lose 10hp per 10 seconds really eats into my life bar. Not sure they are really required for warriors though, with the constant SBing of jeti trains you'll be topping up your hp as a matter of course.

One thing to bear in mind at the moment, jetis has been trashed by the addition of cakes wandering about, not only are they 0 exp monsters they tend to move less predictably than jetis and I have found almost seem to be on auto angry, as they seem to home in far more than normal monsters.

Eh - I'm impatient - I'd probably go to kitties now just to keep things going - especially since the only reason to fight EE are for the cutlus - and you already have one. Kitties drop so much more stuff and are just more fun...

I just put my burgernet up for auction for 3 days to see if anyone wants to buy it. It has lasted me well for the last 25 levels - time for someone else to enjoy it.

The pansies had a bid on them after 15 minutes - so I'm hoping they sell quite well. I've got about 1mil+ worth of stuff that has ended so I need to get going on that.

Also when I was trying to find an empty area to train I saw hackers and reported them then I used a Super Megaphone and got rid of them then I kept my spot for the whole day only taking minor breaks to get lunch and whatever and to relax I finished my level about an hour before 2x exp/drop was done but the whole day all I got were ores tons of topaz and a few BC and like 1 or 2 DC ores... I have horrid drop luck.... Also I only had problems with 1 person not wanting to leave so I rested on a rope and they left.... I had no problems with anyone sticking around Sleepy Dungeon 4 they just passed through and went to 5 or they Changed channels when I asked them I gave about 4 people return scrolls so they could get out of my hair faster and they wouldn't ruin my spawn from spawning the way I liked it to spawn..... overall it was a nice day of training and chatting with friends also I will note Flavant is gonna sell me a below average arc staff for the npc price <3 Flavant my friend n_n Also I was able to sell my blue china top for 75k that I got as a drop.... and I was suprised how quickly everyone changed channels when I asked if they could please hurry through or change channels...... Well May 11th turned out to be a much shorter play experience than I had expected. Since my kids and wife have been sick, after the kids went to bed, I spent most of my night taking care of and spending time with my wife.

That being said, I logged on around 11pm my time - 1 hour before the end of the event. I immediately joined SwiftBacon at Tobos in the aparatus room and earned 14% before the end of the event. Not all of that hour was spent training however, as a basil buyer wanted to meet up with me and wouldn't wait. That cost me a few minutes and then I had to do something for my wife to take another few minutes. In other words - I didn't get a lot of time with maple last night.
After the event was over, I went to master robos for a little while and eventually headed to the FM. I'm up to 22% on 49, so if I get on early enough tonight - I might make it to 50 by Saturday night. In the Free Market, I was specifically looking for a Crusader Helm and some gold and diamonds for a brist. I found a mithril crusader with +1 str, 55 wdef and 23 mdef for 300k - so I picked it up quickly. A silver or bronze would have been better - but the additional +1 str isn't that big of a deal and it is more important to me to have the helm ready for level 50. If I can find a good silver one before then - well - more power to me. I could resell the helm I've got for more than 300k if the need should arise anyway.

I also found 20 diamond ores without too much ado for an average price of 6-7k I think. A good many of them were 5k and the rest were 8k - so somewhere in there. I still need 24 gold for the brist, so I'm hoping to find some "cheap" gold ores soon. Even after I get all the materials and make the glove, I'll need to scroll it better than what I've got - which should be interesting.
Basil Market has been doing good things for me. Not only do I have around 1.3mil worth of pending transactions, I've got 6-7 active auctions out right now and most of them have bids - including my burgernet. It is currently at the bargain price of 100k - so if anyone is looking to pick it up - put in a bid.

Oh and during the event I didn't get any special drops to note - but that's not that big of a deal. In that time, I did manage to pick up 470 batteries though... Well, Bacon did give me a bottomwear scroll - but I don't think that counts as a drop... (thanks again bacon).

@mlugia - you can certainly buy the top and bottom level 40 set I've got - but they aren't anything too special. The bottoms have 1 10% working on it and the tops have 1 60% working on it. You might be better off for the top getting a store bought one and try 7 10% scrolls on it. 10% scrolls can be found as cheap as 10k and as expensive as 25k - so its not too much of an outlay.
In all likelihood, I'll miss the 2x drop event tonight completely, but its not that big of a deal. If I do make it - I'll be at Master Robos unless Bacon is on - then I'll be at Tobos most likely.

I'm really looking forward to level 50. It should be a decent weapon, armor and magic armor upgrade and it'll be the first time since level 25 that my face has been exposed while wearing my helm. I promise - I'll take a pic when I've got everything scrolled up and ready to go - hopefully before the end of the weekend.

The poker question:
Please refer to this link if you have any question on the math: http://www.bet-the-pot.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12953

The big factor of the problem is the fact that 1st and 2nd place are the same reward: a $12k package to the WSOP. 3rd place is already guaranteed to one of the 3 players for a whopping $900.

In situations like this, you have to look for the greatest Expected Value (EV) of your actions and hope that luck doesn't take you down. If you make the EV play every time (and your opponents don't go too crazy) you should be making money.

However, the problem here is that we have no read on what the big stack has - so he is essentially a random hand.

AQs has a 66.2% chance of winning versus a random hand. If we say that my friend will get the seat 90% of the time if he calls and wins, then his EV is $7,453.80.

If you fold, you and the smallest stack will be both allin on the next hand no matter what - and as I have said - the big stack will automatically call - so it is 3 random hands. The thing is, since you are the middle stack - you don't necessarily need to have the best hand in order to get your seat. If you and the smallest stack bust on this one hand - then you will take 2nd because you had more chips to start the hand.

So - on this hand, with three random hands, you will have a flat 66.67% chance of getting the seat. Your EV by folding the AQs and playing whatever you get in the next hand is a whopping $9,291. That's quite a difference.

Interestingly enough, if my friend had held pocket aces instead of AQs in this hand, it is a much closer question of fold or call (again, assuming that 90% of the time that he wins he'll also get the seat). His EV with aces would have been $9334.20.---MS TelinArtho2 (windia) 49 Fighter
TelinArthoPosted 5/11/2006 10:26:47 AMAfter unsuccessfully finding/buying a crusader helm, I've pretty much decided that I will hunt for one tonight when I get online. Floor 8 is apt to be crowded though - so I'll just have to hope it isn't too bad when I get there. It will be a game time decision though - since I don't have any tower scrolls right now - so the trip down and back will be a pain to work with.

The other way to do this might be to wait a few days and hope the prices on them start to drop a fair amount or at least wait until there are more that have above average stats. Getting a mithril crusader is about half or less than the price of a silver - but as long as it has the target wdef and mdef I'm looking for - it will suit me just fine.

Hey Dave,
If your mule is in Vic, Aerythn can provide you with a few scrolls. Just find me on Aerylus and I'll switch accounts.

In the meantime, 100exp per evil eye = hot. At 37 I think I might take a trip to Orbis. The drops at evil eyes blow hard.

One of the things I just remembered about moving on to kitties was that I already had my nice cutlus at that point. You are probably having a slightly harder time than I did because of this (the difference between unscrolled and scrolled at that level was ~100 dmg or so I think). Hopefully, I can polish off 49 tonight and get you the cutlus. I am so looking forward to the boost I'll get from my new katar. Hopefully it will be at least +4 as well - though I'm really hoping for much more...

Also, I'm reconsidering making a brist to scroll for attack. I just realized that not only am I short in diamonds - I'm also short on gold. If it was only diamonds, I was not going to have that hard a time finding them for about 5k a piece (so 100k total for 20 of them), but adding in another 40 gold (I think I've got 14 right now - so really its just 26), will be much harder to find for 5k a piece. If I can, I will get them to make it - but at this point I'm wondering if it will be worth it.
Mithril brists are fairly frequent - and the extra 1 dex will still be +1 accuracy - so the only difference is really the 1 wdef. Since they are pretty common, getting a few from the market won't be too difficult and then I can see how scrolling goes.

I'm really looking forward to taking advantage of the double rates tonight. With 650k to go to level 50, I'll need to kill ~3000-3300 robots (either tobos or master robos) in order to advance. Going to master robos might be better for me if I can get lucky with a jewel katar drop that's better than my current one. They also drop other useful things - but I think overall the drops are better at tobos.

Thundon - are you going to be online in the 9pm-midnight range (6pm-9pm your time I think)? If you are and want to do tobos - that would help my decision process...

Also, on a side note - I'm very impressed with the cost of pansy earrings. Although they don't seem all that special, for some reason they sell very well on Basil Market...

Just got to Lv 37! First 3 points of FA, and I have this to say:

FA is the hottest thing since *censored*

Also I timed myself:70.03% at 1:4491.47% at 2:12=====21.44% in 28 minutes.

Not bad, but in an entire 50% at EE, my only drops were ores and speed pots. Bah. 2x drop isn't THAT great =( Not even a cutlus.

I guess I'll hold off the Orbis excursion till you're done with your cutlus. I wonder what I should do now. Maybe more training at EE? :/

Okay, here's a tough question for poker. And the answer may be a bit of a surprise to most:

This situation was one a friend of mine was in the other day (this was also posted in my journal, but I wanted some more opinions on it. I've given my friend's explanation in the journal. I'm curious what people think about this).

He was playing in a satellite to the main event of the World Series. Top 2 players got the seat and some spending money while 3rd got $900. His total investment was $3.

They were down to 3 and the situation was like this:

Chip Leader 200k+
Player 1 (my friend) 5.4k
Player 2 (other opponent) 1k

Blinds were 2k/4k with an ante (I don't remember the ante). Player 2 is the button, Chip leader is the SB and my friend is the BB.

After posting blind and ante, my friend is down to 1.3k. Button folds and Chip leader does the minimum raise to put my friend all in.

What do you do? You have AQs.

(As far as a dynamic, you can make a valid assumption the chip leader will always put the players all in - which is how the situation ended up like this)

(This was a post I made on another forum. Later, when I've posted the "correct" answer - I'll give the link to the thread - since there's a good bit of discussion around it.)

AQs means Ace - Queen suited (both are spades, etc). The game is a tournament-style no limit hold'em. Feel free to ask questions to clarify before answering if you need it.

The poker question you have no choice, but to play bad hands. With the blinds that high if you fold your out of the tourney. The AQs as long as the flop is good you can get a few extra chips in your bank. With a few good hands you can put yourself into a better position and continue folding as normally unless you get low of chips again.

I'm kinda new to maple story, and I'm wondering if scrolling is a good money maker. I plan to get a shop permit soon, at least I hope to. Currently using basil almost all the time and merchanting (buying cheap, selling high) ores. My mage could really use the benifits of scrolling, but as I only have around 300k mesos (just bought 350 blue pots, 100 orange, and a few other potions for training) I got a scroll from PQ and its going for 9k on basil, 10% helmet scroll will I ever get a steady income? I am a low level and new to MS. I am currently at wild boars getting teeth for another quest, hoping for a maple drop...

If you have any ideas my post is almost always bumped to first page, but I enjoy coming here and will be back, especially for the poker answear

As always, looking good keep up the good work!!!

Well you gotta factor in that I was a warrior, which meant that I always got the most experience from the Rombot stage. I also got the 2xxx exp from Alishar everytime too. The % you get varies, depending on how much experience you got by killing monsters in the PQ.

Well, for those looking for the explanation about the poker question early - here's the link to the thread on the other forum: http://www.bet-the-pot.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12953
I'll keep the explanation out of this topic for a few more days though.

I'm home today (wife and kids are sick), so I'll be quick.

Last night, I earned about 22% over the course of 4 hours, mostly in Orbis again at the Disposed Garden. Despite my plans to finish a few quests, I just got bored with it, so I'll get to them later.
I did venture deep into the dungeon and defeated my first few Wild Cargos as well as regular drakes. I didn't die - but I did teleport out with a return scroll.

After that I decided on a whim to go fight mushmom - found an empty channel and killed 1 pig and 2 fierrys before she appeared. I managed to solo her this time - after using 1 sniper pill, 3-4 lemons and around 20 unagi (less - but I don't know exactly how many).

Been a busy couple of days for me - mostly because my wife and kids have been sick - so I stayed home to take care of them.

It did mean I got to play at "off" hours for me - just with frequent interruptions. I managed to finish off level 48 though, so I am just one more level to 50. As I'm sure many who are on my buddy list have noted - I am very lucky - and earned a total of 8 drops over the last 20% of level 48. These include: 2 pairs of Brown Piette Shoes (on auction), a 49atk Halfmoon Zamadar, a pair of Black Green-Lined boots, a Blue-lined Kismet (54wdef), a red bandana (who cares), a dark hunter's top, and a mithril buckler (19wdef). I NPCed some of it and have a good amount on auction right now.

To make it even better, on one of the Lunar pieces exchange I did - I got a shield scroll for myself. I promptly used it and it worked - so my tower shield now is 45 wdef, 3 mdef, and +10 hp. 3 slots left to finish it off - hopefully I'll be lucky and another will work. Here's to that hope...
I also have 3 auctions that just ended (for a total of 820k), one that will end later today and one that will end tomorrow (currently 440k between them).

I did a quick time-trial at the disposed garden yesterday without using a warrior pill and found that my xp rate was significantly less. Over 10 minutes with the pill, I clocked in at 2.57%. Without it, I earned 5.7% over the course of 28 minutes. In hourly rates that works out to 15.42% and 12.21% respectively.

I also did a quick analysis of my income at the garden during level 48. Essentially, I would use 100 lemons, 100 white, and 30-40 unagi over the course of ~15-20%. This is about 100k worth of potions. Over this time, I would earn about that much from the pixies and nependeaths. However, when you factor in the exchange quest - where I sometimes get whites/blues/lemons - suddenly my costs can go down quite significantly. I found that over the course of this time, I usually netted about 30k per run, excluding the drops I have been getting. Surely there are more profitable places, but for what its worth - nependeaths have a great potential (with the exchange and with honey drops) and both pixies have reasonable drops as well.

With my new level, my rage is now of a high enough level to forego the warrior pills (though it will need casting ever 72 seconds, compared to the 10 minutes of the pill...). Still that just means I have an extra use slot in my items.

For the double rate times today, I won't be playing for most of it - though I might be able to get a solid three hours out of it. I just moved back to Ludi - so I'll probably camp out in either the aparatus room (tobos) or Process 1 Zone 1 (master robos). If I can manage a good percentage of this level, that'll be a solid point to end with today.
